Evergreen song

The clues might be a total spoiler so play the interlude and then read the clues.

This is a very beautiful song & the movie i guess got released in early 80's(not sure though). This song is one of the golden hits of this singer and the song categorizes itself into a different genre of music. The singer never misses to sing a few lines of this song in her interviews. This song is rumored to have been lifted from a hindi song (which again falls into a different genre).

"Megamey" by Vani Jayaram from PAlaivana Cholai of Suhasini.. directed by Robert-Rajashekhar; and music by Shankar Ganesh. Truly one of the best works by all the above mentioned.

Megame megame from Paalai vana cholai. This is not copied from a Hindi song but from a Urdu Ghazal popularized by Begum Akhtar.

With Ghazals, the issue of lifting is ambiguous since there could be different version of the same one. I have listened to the Begum Akhtar version.
